Special Exhibition

A different italian Journey

The places, history and memories of the Second World War in Italy

13 November 2026 - 9 May 2027

For many people, Italy is a place of longing and inspiration. The exhibition invites visitors to discover the country from a perspective as a setting of fascism, war, German occupation, resistance, and remembrance.

Through historic sites, striking photographs, personal stories, and docu- ments, the exhibition “A different journey to Italy” invites visitors to experience the history of the Second World War in Italy and traces its legacy to the present day. Through a dialogue between German and Italian perspectives on remembrance, the exhibition offers new ways of understanding a shared history and responsibility. It highlights how important understanding each other’s experiences is – for a vibrant and meaningful European culture of remembrance.
