This exhibition invites visitors to explore remembrance as something both personal and collective. 

Located at the historic site of a former Nazi forced labour camp, the exhibition offers insights into the history of the site and its transformation into today’s Documentation Centre. It shows how remembrance takes shape, how it can be contested, and what role commemoration plays in our present day. 

Through selected objects from our collection, the exhibition presents different forms of remembrance. It highlights personal memories, memories preserved within families, and the various ways in which society remembers Nazi forced labour. A look at Berlin’s urban landscape also illustrates the many different ways in which public commemoration can take shape. 

Remembrance is not a finished process: it changes over time, is passed on from generation o generation, and thrives on participation. Interactive tations invite visitors to explore, investigate, and contribute their own thoughts and perspectives.
